Working with Nature

Sustainability

Lovern Leather Goods are handcrafted with traditional vegetable tanned leathers. Unlike less environmentally friendly, chemical-based methods, vegetable tanning uses the natural tannins found in wood, tree bark, leaves, fruits and roots. This lengthy process, using only natural materials, makes it the most sustainable of leathers.

In Our Care

As a small family-run business, we are keenly aware that our planet is in our care. To that end, we work with trusted suppliers, sourcing our hides from Tuscany, Italy. The region is recognised for its long established tanneries, specialising in high quality leather produced ethically and responsibly. Our packaging is designed to be recycled or reused with all our bags shipped in a reusable cotton dust bag. Every year we review our materials and renew our commitment to sustainable practices. This is an evolving process.

Full Circle

Starting with nature’s ingredients such as oak bark, olive leaves and mimosa, our leathers are brought to a stable state through a lengthy tanning process. Vegetable-tanned leather is renowned for its beautiful patina and occasional tonal variety which signify quality and guarantee uniqueness.

As a natural, non-synthetic product, leather offers many lifetimes of use, at the end of which it is biodegradable – starting and finishing with nature.
